Is it possible to have strep throat and a viral throat problem?

I was told I have strep and a sinus infection but haven't responded to any treatment. They tried amoxicillin then Z pack...nothing has worked! Is it possible for me to have a virus as well? And how long does it usually take to get rid of a throat virus?
