What is wrong with my throat?

my throat has been severely hurting for a couple of days now, ive already been to the doctor and they say its probably just a virus. i was tested for strep and it not that but it feels exactly like it! im mildly tired but not much and i can only eat chicken noodle soup and advil does not help. please help me!
