I have a 1313(?) foot plot in a community garden. Can you help me plan what to plant?
yes herbs!!! herbs are ur best friend in the vegie patch, they attract pollinating insects and deter nasty ones. herbs also stimulate the growth of your vegies.such as chives and parsley around ur tomatoes. the onion family is really the one that a lot of other palnts dont like growing near. sure you can plant flowers, generally annuals are better because you can keep rotating your vegetables.( growing the same vegetable in the same spot two seasons in a row causes problems ). toamtoes dont like damp conditions without a strong summer. if you have raised beds its no problem as drainage is optimum. if you have any stinging nettle nearby this is awesome for tomatoes. dry the stinging nettle plants and then break them down into a powder ,add this to water and spray it onto your tomatoe plants. stinging nettles have a naturally occuring silicone compound , and they literally coat the plant in a protective layer. it also acts as a fertilser and a handful of the powder can be sprinkled into thge planting hole. i could go on for ages but just email me with any other questions. have a blast and good luck
