Is collective guilt about a recent slaving past the reason why religious fundamentalism is such a blight in US?

White man's guilt? Not hardly. I feel absolutely no remorse for being white in the United States. I do, however, find it necessary to feel some sense of anger for the mistakes of my forefathers. As far as religious fundamentalism is concerned, I don't see anyone attacking deism, which seems to be the most fundamentalist form of religion that exists.
