Yes, it sounds like strep throat. But it could also be a viral infection. There's a quick test they can do with a throat swab that will tell you for sure. If you don't have health insurance, or if your co-pay is expensive, get out the phone book and look up your local health department. They will check you (and probably treat you -- amoxicillin) for free.
